Kolomna is one of the oldest Russian cities. There are more than 400 monuments, churches, monasteries and cathedrals, many of them are unique. During 12th–16th centuries, Kolomna was one of the focal fortresses in Moscow defense against foreign invasions. Dmitry Donskoy had his wedding here and gathered his troops for the battle with the Golden Horde. There are streets packed with houses of the 19th century nobles.
